The Core Issue:

Releasing Cellular Memories

exploring flower essences for releasing unprocessed experiences

cellular memory

  1. unfinished experiences, such as traumatic or abusive ones, that are stored in the cells of the body, waiting for the right time to be processed and transformed

Our life experiences are stored in the cells of our body. The body's cells are like a library of all that has happened to us. That's a comforting thought when we think about all the resources that it guarantees us. Haven't you heard the phrase, "It's just like riding a bicycle," meaning that the experience and the mastery you learned at one point in your life comes back to you, even years later.

When we have experiences, we can contemplate them, learn from what we have experienced and ultimately make wisdom. Or, sometimes we store the experience, leaving it raw without processing.

The process of working with what we have experienced is an interesting one. When we do not have the capability, the desire, the time, or perhaps the supportive resources, the experience is stored cellularly in its raw form, waiting for a time when we can call it up and work with it.

Just as all other sorts of experiences, trauma and abuse are stored in the cells, too. When we have traumatic or abusive experiences, if we do not have the necessary consciousness, resources, or support available to process them, these experiences are stored cellularly in a raw or unprocessed form.

Have you ever had someone touch part of your body, only to experience an uncomfortable emotional response that was not congruent with the present? Or perhaps you might have desired to release cellular memories that you suspected were there, but you couldn't figure out how to start the process? In either case, it is only when the time is just right, when you have everything you need to support the process, that it happens. When the healer within you determines a perfect time, cellular memories, or unprocessed events, can arise for you to make sense of and resolve or heal.

Flower essences excel at supporting this process of resolution. They are excellent helping us in all aspects of the process: allowing cellular memories to surface, supporting conscious exploration and contemplative integration of the event, releasing and letting go of whatever is necessary, and helping us feel safe and capable during the duration of the process.

There are times in life when it becomes intuitively obvious that we are ready to release cellular memories. You may have the awareness that you need to let go of some of the unresolved experiences in your cells in order to move ahead in your growth and development. There are other times when old cellular memories begin to arise of their own accord.

Sometimes, in order to release cellular memories you need to relive them, engage in actually feeling them, finding resolution, forgiveness or other conclusions from the process. It can be a very dynamic, often painful, but in the end, extremely rewarding experience. Other times, we can let go of cellular memory without actively engaging in the original causation.

We do not choose which of these two methods is the right one for a given moment. There is a power within that orchestrates, and if we are lucky, we learn to honor this intelligence and flow with it.

Following is an exploration of the process of releasing cellular memories and some of the desert's gifts to us through flower essences for each part of the process.

Physical Resolution

Cellular Joy Formula is excellent for releasing and healing all forms of physical abuse, whether it is related to sports injuries, accidents, or physical abuse from another. It helps the memories arise and be processed and released, leaving you in touch with the vibration of grace in the cells of the body.

Cellular Joy Formula can be an important part of the process of incarnating fully in your body, so it is often used for those who are ungrounded, or who have an unconscious feeling that it is not safe to be in the body.

The Pioneer

Bisbee Beehive Cactus helps you go right to the cellular level, the core or root of an issue. It is like a pioneer, readying you for inner work on abuse issues that may be present now or may come up later. It most often indicates that there has been some sort of sexual abuse stored in the cells and that some point, you will be able to address and release it.

It is excellent for issues around self esteem, helping you reach your deepest inner core where there is the knowingness that "I am perfect, just the way I am."

Releasing the Effects of Sexual Abuse

The Unlocking Sexual Grace Formula is for releasing the deep level psychic, physical, emotional, and mental shock and trauma caused by sexual abuse. It supports you in accessing and releasing the memories and the consequences to your inner state of being. It is helpful in all the stages of recovery. The essence helps bring you back in touch with your purity and innocent sensual and sexual aliveness.

Bitter Old Emotional Wounds

Creosote Bush is for releasing old, emotional wounds that have been unexpressed and have resulted in bitterness. This is for those who have experienced an event that left them feeling alone, cut off from the world and wistfully bitter. There is a holding on to old wounds but not resolving or expressing them. A great deal of energy is expended in holding down or repressing.

This flower essence helps release what has been held in and promotes a feeling of brightness and of being freed.

Releasing Effects of Persecution

It's remarkable how many people have become aware of old memories of having been persecuted for their beliefs. Crownbeard is for releasing fear and terror of being tortured for speaking out or expressing their unique views. Sometimes, the source of these old cellular memories are buried in past-lives and can leave you with fatalistic attitudes and distrust of others.

Crownbeard helps release, transform, and resolve these old experiences and fears. It can help you heal the fear of other people's hostility and restore the knowing that you are worthy of love.

Ancestral Patterns

Patterns that are sources in the experiences of your ancestors can be the source of some cellular memories. You can use the Ancestral Patterns Formula to help you become aware of inherited patterns and release them.

Staying Present with the Process

Sometimes releasing old cellular memories and traumas can feel overwhelming or just plain difficult. Crisis - Desert Emergency Formula is excellent to use with only of the others to help the process feel manageable. This formula helps you stay in the moment, to keep with the process, so you can reap the rewards of the inner work you are doing.

Releasing without Re-Experiencing

There are times when releasing something on the cellular level needs to happen without re-living or re-experiencing the situation that caused it. There can be a possibility of re-traumatizing yourself by reliving an experience if you are not yet ready. There are also past-life situations that you can release that you might not need to relive. Both of these types of cellular release are dictated by the soul's direction.

Rainbow Cactus facilitates this type of cellular release. It helps you let go of things without necessarily knowing what you let go of or where it all came from. You simply let go and can usually feel the effects of having done so.

Selecting the Most Appropriate Flower Essences

Not every flower essence mentioned above will be appropriate for every person's specific needs. Different people have different issues. Usually, careful self-examination can clearly show you which of the above flower essences are most appropriate for you.

Though you can use more than one flower essence together, you probably will not need to use all of the ones mentioned here. After contemplating your relationship to this issue, select the flower essences that apply for you, or use an intuitive method to select among them. (For more information on how to do this, see The Art & Technique of Using Flower Essences.) A general guideline is to use four drops at a time, four times a day, in water. However, it is fine to follow your intuition and use them as often as you like. Most people find that they tend to use them more often in the beginning and less often towards the end of the cycle. Unless otherwise indicated, a cycle is usually two to four weeks. [more]
